Joomla 3.8

The Joomla team has just released Joomla 3.8, the latest update in the Joomla 3 series. We encourage all our clients to check the Joomla version installed and update to the latest secure release as soon as possible

We recently updated our blog discussing the Joomla 3.7 release. If you have not yet updated to Joomla 3.7 read the update instructions first. Make sure you are running at least Joomla 3.7 and any extensions are updated before applying the Joomla 3.8 update.

Is your Website ready for Joomla 3.8?

Joomla! 3.8 is a one-click update just like previous 3.x versions.
Before upgrading, it is important to update all of your third party extensions and also to take and test a full backup of your site.

This is also a great time to connect with your hosting company and check your PHP and database versions. We recommend upgrading to PHP 7 or 7.1 as it will bring a considerable speed boost to your site. Further system requirements can be found on the technical requirements page.

As always with new features affecting the structure of your website, we strongly encourage you to test thoroughly in a staging environment and put redirections in place before enabling the modern router on your existing sites.

How do I tell what version of Joomla is running?

Generally, when you login to the Administrator Panel, the Joomla version is displayed in small print at the bottom of the screen. Alternatively navigate to the help menu and select Joomla Help. On the left hand side you will see a menu with Latest Version Check.

For a quick overview of features, read Joomla 3.8 moving forward
